For about 5 years I have eaten periodically at Fiesta Cancun. Overall it made for a good lunch and the service was generally pretty quick. Prior to about the last three visits I would have given it 3.5 stars. However, I don't know what has happened, but the service has been lousy. One time, after sitting for nearly 20 minutes without a visit whatsoever by a server (for drinks, chips, or ordering) I went up to the front to let them know. After another 10 minutes someone came by. I told them I wasn't very pleased and managed to embarrass my kids. We were there about an hour before being served our food and my Chicken Fajita burrito had literally two tiny strips of chicken. By then I just wanted to eat and get out. So...I figured this was an anomaly but since then my experience has been the same. Now, I would not be surprised if a fellow reviewer jumped on here and said the service was excellent, but my experience lately has been terrible and I suspect that the next time someone asks where we should grab lunch, it will not be at Fiesta. The food: Mostly okay. It's generally satisfying, but you will not remember this as awesome Mexican fare, nor will you have to choke it down. It has always been a restaurant I frequent because I can get some decent hot mexican food fast. Once you take out the "fast" then it's not so great.

Sadly, it has been downhill over the past year. Used to be my kids favorite place to eat (and it is inexpensive so I was a fan) but the service and quality of food has just been very disappointing.

Called in a pick up order. The tacos had no flavoring. The burrito was alright and the chicken in the quesadilla did not have much flavor either. I was not impressed at all.

Stopped for lunch. Made my decision based on the relatively full parking lot for a Monday. Service was good. Portions were decent (Chimi Lunch). Food was on par with most Mexican joints in the Midwest. At a minimum, much better than Taco Bell.

Food was pretty good. I got the taco salad and my boyfriend got fried chimichangas. We both thought the food was good, not great. The margaritas were really tasty but the sign said they were on special for $2.50 for 12oz. The glass I got was definitely not 12oz and was mostly ice.

Quite honestly their food looks like something off of Gordon Ramsey's Kitchen Nightmares, but looks can be deceiving. I love me some tamales, and they deliver with authentic food. Also have some good (and big) margaritas. Tasty, inexpensive meals can be had here. *Blindfolds may be required. Enjoy!

I skipped dinner at work and decided to stop by Fiesta Cancun on the way home. I notice they are usually busy, so I took that for a good sign. This night I arrived fairly late, closing in 30 mins. If I had known, I would of went another night. The Service: I was seated promptly and the host was friendly. He got our drink order and brought out the house salsa and chips. The waiter let us know that the kitchen was closing very soon and he would be right back to let them know they had another order. Which made us feel a little rushed, but happy that we didnt get turned away. The server checked in w/ us many times to make sure we were happy. 5stars The Food: I ordered the carne asada tacos and a chicken enchalda. The tacos were great. I felt the enchalada lacked...def had better. No seasoning to the chicken. The Salsa was very good as well. I was a fan. Overall we had a good experience. I will stop back again.

This is the kind of restaurant that makes you want to sign up for a Yelp account because it's so terrible. Margaritas were too sweet and weak, the salsa clearly came from a can, flavorless chips, and the chicken enchilada was essentially a room temperature piadina filled with unmelted cheese and chicken. The service was great. Now I know why Taco Bell is Rocford's #1 Mexican restaurant.

Horrible horrible horrible. I use to like this place not anymore. Their staff is horrible they don't bring your drinks right away you have to wait for 5-10 minutes. I ordered take out here and they screwed my order up big time. I called and complained and she said I was lying and that there was nothing wrong. I came back to show her then she took my name down and told me I would get a free meal that never happened. The only thing that is decent there is the chips and salsa. I won't be going there again.

Food is good at times, been quit a few times and service was going downhill. Hearing the conversations the staff has about customers and charging extra is shocking! I understand Spanish and was floored about how they were talking about certain tables and by what they were saying. Tried to contact management to make a complaint and the guy seemed oblivious and in denial. Wouldn't surprise me if they spit in people's food with their racist comments!

Twice....TWICE WE HAVE GONE THERE ....first time 25 minutes prior to the stated closing time on the door....we were treated like we were imposing!! We took our food to go. Tonight..same deal...this time I said.....goodnight and went elsewhere! NEVER AGAIN!!!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
